Prince Charles, next in line to the British throne, turned 70 this week — and the royal family celebrated in style. First, the documentary Prince, Son, and Heir: Charles at 70, aired on the BBC. Then, Clarence House released a series of stunning portraits — including two that showed Charles with his sons and grandchildren — to the public.
And then there was the grand finale: an extravagant affair at Buckingham Palace. Prince William and Kate Middleton were seen driving to the party dressed to the nines, as were Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. Other attendees included Queen Rania of Jordan, Princess Beatrix of the Netherlands, King Philippe and Queen Mathilde of Belgium, Prince Frederik and Princess Mary of Denmark, Queen Sophia of Spain, Prince Albert of Monaco, King Harald and Queen Sonjia of Norway, Princess Beatrice, and Princess Eugenie with her new husband Jack Brooksbank. A picture of Prince Charles, taken at Clarence House, shows the heir dressed in a tuxedo with his wife, Camilla, in a navy blue, off the shoulder gown.
