A seven-bedroom Georgian mansion in a Scottish village close to Glasgow that has been expanded with the addition of two modern wings, came to the market last week asking for offers over £1.875 million (US$2.44 million).
The historic manor is a rarity for the area, according to Tom Stewart-Moore of listing brokerage Knight Frank. “There hasn’t been something of this ilk this close to Glasgow in the past 10 years or so,” he said.
When the house last changed hands around 2005, it needed a lot of work, Mr. Stewart-Moore said.
“It still had the period features, but it wasn’t a cozy modern family home,” Mr. Stewart-Moore said, adding that the current owners re-roofed, rewired, re-plumbed and redecorated throughout.
