As most people have heard of by now, richest man in the world and Amazon founder and CEO, Jeff Bezos and his wife MacKenzie, are getting a divorce. The richest couple in the world decided to divorce amicably, each taking half of the estimated $150 billion estate, mostly money from their Amazon interests along with over half a million acres of land. We are sure while the Bezos try to avoid all the scandals that will come with a high-profile divorce, there won’t be much of their lives that will be private for a while.
As you can see, these images are not the best, we took them using Bing and Google Maps, and since they have both changed their mapping systems, the images are not nearly as good as they used to be. Hopefully someone comes out with better imagery on a mapping system soon. We apologize they are not better.
We are sure someone will probably send a plane or helicopter out over Jeff Bezos homes and take some great shots, as it is ‘the hottest story’ right now. But until then, we thought you might like to get an idea of what lies behind the gated walls of his Medina, Washington property.
After looking over the property records from King County Washington, we actually found that there are 3 separate parcels of property that has been turned into one. We have included at the end of the images, 4 print out images of the appraisals and taxes paid on the 2 largest homes on the property.
Mr. Bezos paid $10 million for the original 5.3-acre property in 1998 that includes two residences. One is a 20,600-square-foot, five-bedroom, four-bathroom house built in 2004 and renovated in 2012. It has a 5,460-square-foot finished basement and five fireplaces. The other is an 8,300-square-foot, five-bedroom, four-bathroom house built in 1940 and renovated in 2000. According to the taxes, this part of his property is valued at $79,200,000, with annual taxes of $674,000.
In 2010, Bezos, under his Aspen Ventures LLC, bought the property next door, a 24,000-square-foot house on 5 acres that once belonged to Peter and Sandra La Haye. Mr. La Haye, an entrepreneur, died in a plane crash in December 1999. The Tudor-style, six-bedroom, six-bathroom mansion was listed at $53 million in 2005, but public records don’t say what the property sold for. It is now valued at $44,489,000, with annual taxes of $394,000.
That makes his tax bill on this property alone at $1,068,000. Again, see images of Jeff Bezos property taxes at the end of the page.
Above are Jeff Bezos property appraisal and taxes charged the last three years for the homes he has in Medina, Washington. There are also apprasials and taxes on a 1920’s caretaker cottage and is boat house, plus the greenhouse. It is interesting to note that on Zillow, it says that the property has decreased by $1,764,343 in value in the last 30 days. We have heard of a property slump, but this amount really goes to show you how property values can really fluctuate.
Here is Bezos Medina, Washington house from above. (Sorry, the images are not the best, but at least you get the idea.
We hope to bring you more on other properties of the richest man in the world.
