Owners of Joey Fatone’s former Windermere-area (Orlando, Florida) house have listed it for $5.5 million.
Seven years ago, the former ‘N Sync member sold his 4-acre lakefront estate for $3.3 million to executives with a Los Angeles-based educational management company.
Longtime Windermere real estate agent Suzi Karr, of Premier Sotheby’s International Realty, said the sprawling site has a resort pool, lighted tennis court and boat dock. Extras include a six-car garage, elevator, and a master closet with more space than some downtown Orlando apartments.
Fatone and his wife, Kelly, tried to sell the estate for $5.5 million in 2010 but ultimately put it on the auction block and it sold at the bottom of the market.
Located in Orlando, the property is on Pocket Lake and west of Apopka-Vineland Road. Nearby properties have recently sold for less than $3 million, although two sales last year for about $2.5 million had about half the property as the former Fatone property.
Elsewhere in the Windermere area, at least one property sold last year above the asking price of the Fatone estate; Kara Jean and Kamran Farid purchased a home with 3.43 acres on Lake Butler for $5.6 million.
Best known as a member of the 1990s boy band ‘N Sync, Fatone also appeared in the film “My Big, Fat, Greek Wedding.” On Broadway, he appeared in “Rent” and “Little Shop of Horrors.” Last year he launched a signature hot dog kiosk at the Florida Mall. The restaurant brands itself as the “Home of the Fat One.”
The impressive property, known as ‘Grande Oaks’, features all of the superfluous luxury required by any boy-bander including a $1 million resort style pool, a home theater with stadium seating, and of course, a sushi bar in the grotto that’s only accessible by a footbridge.
The million dollar resort style pool and grotto is easily one of the most impressive and luxurious features of this mega-mansion. And what pool area is complete without a custom-made sushi bar? Take the footbridge to access this sushi-lover’s dream.
Joey Fatone unsuccessfully listed the property back in September of 2010 for $6.5 million. But the singer chopped a whopping 40% off the asking price and the residence was then officially listed at $3.9 million.
The mansion was built in 1999 and is located on 4.36 acres in the Orlando, FL., suburb. The massive master suite wing totals 3,800 square feet and includes a spacious sitting room with a butler’s pantry and a dual-sided fireplace.
And if you thought the master bath was large, check out the expansive master closet. The impressive 53 foot long dressing room is nearly 700 square feet and includes three dressing islands, a hidden access door, and built-in perimeter shelving.
This garage can hold up to ten cars. No big deal.
Since his days crooning in the boy band ‘N Sync, Fatone has married, competed in “Dancing With the Stars” and nabbed a job as the announcer for “Family Feud.”
Fatone married Kelly Baldwin, his high school sweetheart and the mother of his 3-year-old daughter, in 2004. The couple had another daughter in 2010. He and his family downsized from the 16,000 square foot mansion to a smaller house in the Orlando area, according to his manager Joe Mulvihill.
When Fatone packed up his belongings, the contents of his house filled three semi-trucks, Mulvihill said, so Fatone organized a sale to unload many of their things. Many items were also donated to local charities. At the start of the sale, over 700 people arrived, Mulvihill said. Items sold ranged from a Brita water filter and used sheets to a $70,000 armoire. Also sold were wine glasses, stuffed animals, arcade games and Christmas ornaments. One notable piece sold was the sword of omens from the movie Thundercats.
