The new home-mansion of the late Rick James daughter Ty James. After purchasing the house, she decided to hold a ‘house-warming’ party last weekend. It turns out that 3000 people showed up.
Late R&B singer Rick James must have showed his daughter how to party. This past weekend she threw an over-the-top party that drew some 3,000 people to her mansion in the quiet suburban of Snellville, GA outside of Atlanta.
Her late father who was known for songs like “Super Freak” was also known for living a wild lifestyle that inspired many of his songs.
Three thousand people, fireworks, celebrities … and snakes?
The massive house party had neighbors furious, as they seemed to blame the County of Gwinnett for letting this happen.
James’ daughter Ty just bought the property for $2 million in July. She said it was a housewarming party, and no one has any reason to be upset. But neighbors said it turned into a rager that disturbed the entire community.
Neighbors reported cars were double parked up and down their entire neighborhood and according to neighbor Amy Baker, “People were walking through with open containers of alcohol, and drugs,”
Neighbors claim they found pictures of the party on Instagram that they said featured illegal drugs, naked women and huge snakes. They called police.
According to the neighbors, the party announcement was posted on social media with tickets selling online for $50 and on Saturday tons of people arrived in the neighborhood looking for a good time.
Resident Katherine Schendel said, “There were cars parked all up and down our street. On both sides of our street, potentially blocking emergency vehicles from getting through.”
“We’re concerned about our property values. They don’t need to be walking down the middle of the street in thongs and smoking dope,” Schendel said.
Ty James, however, denies that any tickets were sold for the party, that is was promoted on social media and claims that there were no issues caused saying it was merely a simple house-warming party that happened to draw in a huge crowd. She did at least apologized to the neighborhood for any inconvenience. She said no one was arrested, and there was no reason to call police. She said no one was charged to attend, and the party was open to the public, so they neighbors should have stopped by.
Rick James died of heart failure in his sleep on August , 2004 at age 56.
