As we still mourn the death of comic genius Robin Williams, 63, many forget that prior to his death, the comedian has had marital issues and even decided to sell his 20,000 sq.ft. Napa Valley mansion and vineyard. Though many sources have said that he was selling the mansion and 650 acre vineyard, known as Villa Sorriso, because he could no longer afford it, but our investigation found that in fact he never used the mansion since his last divorce and felt there was no reason to keep the vineyard property, located in Tiburon, California. Everyone in his family was provided for, so he felt no need to keep the massive property.
The comic had already shelled out $20 million to $30 million to his ex-wives Valerie Velardi and Marsha Garces, in his divorces, according to reports.
Although Velardi signed a prenup, she got $50,000 a month for life when they split in 1988. Court records also show Williams paid Velardi more than $518,000 in 1989 from a profit-sharing plan administered by accounting firm Joel Faden and Co. of Manhattan. Garces, as one may remember, was his nanny he had an affair with while married to Velardi, similar to his role in the 1982 movie, ‘The World According To Garp’. Maybe he had something to do with the writing of that movie?
While Williams’ net worth had been estimated at $130 million, TMZ reported that he plowed a sizeable chunk of his money into a 2009 trust for his three kids: Zachary, now 31, and half-siblings Zelda, 25, and Cody, 22. Terms of the trust gave them each one-third of their shares when they turned 21, another third at 25 and the remainder at age 30. There is no word on how much the trusts were worth.
