Rubicon founder Gordon Fell wins the downsizer of the year award for 2018, having bought architect William Smart’s Surry Hills home and design studio for $7,905,000 last month and now sold his $55 million Point Piper mansion.

Mr Fell and his wife, Philippa, listed their designer waterfront home ‘Routala’ — on the tip of Australia’s most exclusive peninsula — with Brad Pillinger of Pillingers on September 5.

When contacted, Mr Pillinger had no comment, but other agents say the five-bedroom, seven-bathroom ‘Routala’ with a seven-car garage on Wunulla Rd has sold for $49 million on a 12-month settlement.
